The state of Utah is known for its great outdoor activities. State parks and national parks are fantastic in western Utah, as are the state’s ski resorts. Many famous festivals are also held there, as well as history and culture. Despite Utah’s fame as the “Greatest Snow on Earth,” the state license plate says it is only the second lightest, driest snow in the country, making it ideally suited for skiing. The state of Utah has 14 alpines (high mountain) ski resorts. A national forest is found in every county of Utah, making it the only state with this feature. There are also six national forests located here. They are Wasatch-Cache, Uinta, Manti-LaSal, Fishlake, Dixie, and Ashley. Not to mention that there are two national monuments, two recreation areas, seven national monuments, and five national parks. In Utah, most of the population practices the same religion, making Utah one of the most religiously homogeneous states in the nation. Its 60 percent Mormon population influences the state’s culture.
