Illinois is found in the Midwest and is the 25th largest state in the country (by area). There are also a lot of people living there since it’s the sixth most populous! It is known for forests, farmland, wetlands, and hills. Alternatively, it’s also home to Chicago, one of America’s largest cities and a city with many skyscrapers. The world’s tallest man, Robert Pershing Wadlow, was born in Alton, Illinois, in 1918. Eventually, he grew to be eight feet and eleven inches tall, and he wore size 37 shoes. The name ‘Alton Giant’ was given to him. Sweet treats are plentiful in Illinois. Joliet opened the first Dairy Queen in 1940, and Chicago operates the world’s largest cookie factory. Sixteen billion Oreo cookies were produced at the Nabisco factory in 1995. Furthermore, Evanston, Illinois, invented the ice cream sundae. One of the only rivers in the world that flow backward is the Chicago River. St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated every year by dyeing the river green! Some of the cities we service in Illinois include:
