In 1959, Hawaii joined the U.S.S. as the 50th state. The only state made entirely of islands in Hawaii. The state has 136 islands in total, but its eight major islands are its most notable features. Coffee, vanilla beans, and cacao are only grown commercially (to sell) in Hawaii. Also, Hawaii is a world leader in harvesting macadamia nuts and sells more than 1/3 of the world’s pineapples commercially. The Hawaiian alphabet consists of twelve letters: A, E, I, O, U, H, K, L, M, N, P, and W. There is always a vowel at the end of every syllable (and every word).
